The great poet and philosopher Kahlil Gibran once wrote, “out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.” Some of the scars Kahlil refers to are visible, while still, others are under the surface. These scars teach us, build resiliency, and make us more compassionate about the struggles and scars of others. As a human who has suffered and as a therapist who has tirelessly fought to reclaim lives brought asunder by suffering, I want to take a journey with my clients to find what was lost, rebuild what has been ravaged, and find a path of strength and compassion to walk with my clients. Within the confines of a calm, caring, and nonjudgmental framework, kindness, compassion, and supportive plans become the goals for our experience in growing our therapeutic alliance. You can begin to develop ways to meet the challenges you have identified in your life. With my assistance, we can work together to identify positive outcomes for many issues that have perplexed you, put barriers in your way, and impede progress while also identifying how to incorporate your many strengths, rich history, and the lessons learned from trauma and joyful events alike. We will learn from each other on this path. With age comes wisdom, and with my years of life experiences, 13 years invested in honing my therapeutic chops, and the education that was garnered later in life than most, it provides me with the tools necessary to assist others in finding their way through the complexities that life has dealt them. Whether you are dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, past trauma, addiction, abandonment issues, or just the fallout from the many events, choices, and tragedies that have brought you to seek help, we can find a way to a better, more peaceful state of being. Lao Tzu said, “The journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.” Let the journey begin.
