What makes this useful
30 checks on record
30 checks in the last 63 days, and we kept every answer. Each profile carries the resulting 30 days as a strip you can read at a glance - the most recent run read 21,918 listings and finished on 7 Oct 2026.
3,045 of 21,893 were open at the last check
Not who says they have space on a profile page they wrote once. 3,045 of 21,893 were accepting new clients when we last looked; the other 18,848 are here too, marked as full, because a therapist who is full this week is often not full next week.
0 paid positions, of any kind
All 21,893 profiles are ordered the same way: whoever the last check found accepting, then alphabetically. There is nothing to buy - we are paid by BetterHelp through a single arrangement that pays the same whichever therapist you start with, which is why we have no reason to push you at one.
By licence
A therapist's licence is issued by one state's board, so the state on each profile is the state they can see clients in. These are the 51 states we currently list anyone in.
By specialty
These are the specialties therapists list on their own BetterHelp profiles, in their own words. The counts are how many people list each one.
By language
Nearly everyone here works in English, so filtering by it tells you nothing. These are the other 70 languages somebody on this roster works in - including the ones with eight or ten people behind them, which is exactly the search that is impossible everywhere else.
Languages are as each therapist listed them on BetterHelp. We do not test anybody's fluency, and a language on a profile is not an offer of interpretation.
Other cuts
Every number here is a live count, and every one of them is the page it links to.
Start to finish
Your state, what you are dealing with, the language you want to speak - and whether they were open to new clients at the last check. Every filter is a link, so you can go back, share the view, or bookmark it.
Each profile carries the BetterHelp bio in the therapist's own words, the licence exactly as it is published, and the strip of days we found them accepting. We do not rate anybody, and we do not publish reviews - we have not collected any, so there are none to publish.
The button hands you to BetterHelp, who run the sessions, hold the records and take the payment. We are not part of that: we are an independent directory, and if you start through one of our links BetterHelp pays us a commission at no extra cost to you.

Background
Outcome research has pointed at the same unglamorous thing for decades: the working relationship between you and the person opposite you predicts more than the school of therapy they trained in. That is genuinely good news, because it means the choice in front of you is not a research question you have to get right. It is a fit question, and you can only answer it by starting.
A practical way through it: pick two or three people whose description reads like they have sat with someone in your situation before, rather than like a list of everything they are qualified to treat. Start with one. Give it three or four sessions. If by then you are still managing the conversation - explaining yourself, filling silences, leaving flatter than you arrived - that is information, not failure, and switching is a normal thing to do rather than a complaint you have to make.
Every therapist listed here holds a licence issued by a US state board, and the letters after their name tell you which profession licensed them. LCSW, LICSW and LMSW are clinical social work: a master's in social work plus thousands of supervised clinical hours. LPC, LMHC, LCPC and LCMHC are professional or mental-health counselling - the same qualification under four names, because the letters vary by state rather than by training. LMFT and LCMFT are marriage and family therapy, trained to treat the relationship rather than one person in it. Psychologist and LCP are doctoral-level psychology licences.
None of those letters ranks anybody. A licence is a floor - proof that a state board examined this person's training and supervised hours and let them practise unsupervised - and not a recommendation. It is worth knowing that the floor is real, and worth ignoring after that.
Because the board is a state board, the licence is a state licence, which is why every profile here carries a state and why this directory sorts into 51 states. A therapist licensed in Ohio can generally only see clients who are in Ohio at the time of the session, wherever either of them happens to live.
BetterHelp is a platform, not a practice. The therapists on it are independent, licensed clinicians who take clients through it; BetterHelp handles the matching, the video and messaging tools, the scheduling and the billing. Sessions are usually held by video, phone or live chat, with messaging in between.
Payment is a subscription billed every few weeks rather than a fee per session, and the rate depends on where you are and who is available near you. We do not hold that number, so this page does not print one - a precise weekly price quoted on a directory is a price somebody wrote down last year. BetterHelp quotes the current one before you commit to anything, and it is the thing worth reading carefully at that point, alongside how cancelling works and how it does or does not interact with your insurance.
Therapists fill up. Someone with space on Monday can be full by Thursday, and a profile page has no way of telling you that, because it was written once. This directory re-reads the roster once a day and keeps the answer, which is why each profile shows a strip of days rather than a status light.
Read the strip literally, because it is drawn literally. A filled cell is a day we checked and found them accepting. An empty cell is a day we checked and found them full or waitlisted. A dashed cell is a day nobody looked - a run that did not happen, or a therapist not yet on the roster - and it is drawn differently on purpose, because colouring in a day nobody observed would be the easiest and most flattering lie this site could tell.
Writing
Every teen deserves to feel capable, brave, and proud of who they are. If your child doubts themselves or avoids challenges, these 10 proven therapy strategies to boost teen confidence can help.
Watching your teen doubt themselves can be tough. School, friends, and social media can make confidence rise and fall each day. The good news is that confidence is a skill. It can grow with the right support.
If you are feeling stuck, small, or unsure of your worth, you are not alone. Many people struggle to see their strengths, even when others can.
FAQ
No. Quick Counseling is an independent directory of therapists who are listed on BetterHelp. We are not BetterHelp, we do not employ or supervise anybody on this site, and we do not take bookings or hold any of your records. Quick Counseling is user-supported - when you start through our links we may earn a commission from BetterHelp at no extra cost to you.
It means that the last time we read this therapist's BetterHelp listing, it said they were open to new clients. At the most recent check that was 3,045 of the 21,893 therapists we list. It is a record of what we observed, not a reservation - someone can fill up between our check and your message.
Once a day. We have 30 checks on record covering the last 63 days, the most recent of them on 7 Oct 2026. Every profile shows those days as a strip, so you can see the pattern rather than one snapshot. Days nobody checked are drawn differently from days we checked and found somebody full.
No, and there is nothing to pay for. All 21,893 profiles are ordered the same way - whoever the last check found accepting, then alphabetically - and no therapist can change that. We are paid by BetterHelp through a single arrangement that pays the same whichever therapist you start with.
They are US state licences, not rankings. LCSW, LICSW and LMSW are clinical social work; LPC, LMHC, LCPC and LCMHC are professional or mental-health counselling under different state names; LMFT is marriage and family therapy; Psychologist and LCP are doctoral-level psychology licences. Each is issued by a state board, which is why a therapist can normally only see clients located in the state that licensed them.
BetterHelp charges a subscription billed every few weeks rather than a fee per session, and the rate depends on where you are and who is available. We do not hold that figure and we will not print one: a price quoted on a directory page is a price that was true once. BetterHelp shows you the current rate before you commit.
