About me

Hello! My name is Denise Strickland and I am a LCMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor), licensed in North Carolina. I have a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling with a concentration in marriage and family and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychological. I have worked as an outpatient mental health therapist for the last seven years and have twenty years of experience working in the mental health field. I have an eclectic approach to therapy and utilize humor, understanding, and a multitude of therapeutic modalities to support individuals experiencing mental health symptomology and/or every day stressors that prevent them from living their best lives. I have experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, chronic medical issues, trauma, relationship issues, career challenges, substance use issues, and major life changes. Through my practice, I strive to create a nurturing safe environment that allows an individual to feel confident with me and the process. In the next few days, I’ll be sending a sort of psychosocial assessment to help me to get to know you better. It’s lengthy, however, the time you spend working on it independently cuts down on time during sessions in which we could be working towards your goals. When you’re ready just pick any open spot and we can get started.
