About me

Greetings! My name is Anycia Grady. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisory credentialing in the state of Ohio. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Fisk University in Nashville, TN. Shortly after I returned home to Ohio to attain my Master of Science and Social Administration degree in Adult Mental Health from Case Western Reserve University. I have practiced as a social worker for 10 years in varying capacities. Of my ten years in service, 5 of those years I supported my community in the areas of individual, group, and family therapy for persons ranging in age from 5 to the aging population. Of those, I have supported individuals of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and religious beliefs. In addition to this, I have worked with individuals who suffer from ADHD, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD to name a few. Recently, I have had the opportunity to support individuals with co-occurring disorders involving both alcohol and substance use. The remainder of my 10 years involved supporting individuals in the medical field supporting linkage to community based resources, healthcare providers, and mental health support in their local area. Being that I have such a wide range of social services experience, I have come to learn that even though two individuals will have the same diagnosis, their symptoms and presentations can vary. As a result, I tailor my approach to the individual and meet my clients where they are. My primary clinical, and professional, approach involves a combination of two evidence-based practices: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. With these two modalities of thought I have found it allows the client the opportunity to self-determine the direction of their care. It prompts self-thought and opportunity to reframe thinking. Many times, I have found clients will make decisions regarding their lives based on their perceptions of their provider and/or others. My goal is to provide opportunity for internal self-evaluation, reflection, and to facilitate that process. I believe that the client is the captain of the ship (being their life), I am but a rudder helping to steer the ship. Occasionally, if deemed appropriate, psychoanalytical techniques will be used if there is a root issue posing as a barrier and mental block to present concerns and choices. From there, we will process thoughts and psychosocial history to support coping with those difficult root issues in a safe way. I truly believe in empowering my clients. We will establish goals that fit your current concerns and needs. These goals will be driven by you, the client. Ultimately, my sole role is to provide techniques and interventions for my clients to use independently so that at the end of our time together, I will have “worked myself out of a job.” This happens when the client knows how to identify triggers and utilize coping skills independent of needing prompting. Logistically, initial sessions will require a virtual face-to face component to confirm identity and for HIPAA purposes. Afterwards, we can then discuss the best modality of communication which fits your preferences. I look forward to working with you and supporting your personal goals.
