Luzviminda (Luz) Hofer (LCSW)

I am a Wyoming Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I also have a Colorado License for Clinical Social Worker. I have a degree in Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Wyoming. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I have 10 years of experience working with a variety of people with diverse background. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, families and groups in community-based outpatient as well as residential treatment settings. I also have a 3 year experience in the correctional setting providing mental health services to both male and female population. I provide individual, family and group therapy. I have a variety of experience working with those who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma related issues, family conflict, relationship issues, loss and grief, stress and conflicts, motivation, low self esteem problem and other personal life issues As a clinician, I embrace a strengths-based perspective, and I incorporate different theories in order to better understand and meet the needs of those I serve. These theories include cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, reality-based, mindfulness-based and family systems theories. Techniques that I utilize may include dialogue, psycho education, relaxation, reframing of negative thoughts, positive decision-making and mindfulness. I can also provide homework and worksheets as necessary and as preferred by the person I am also EMDR trained which I find very helpful in working with those who experience trauma. However, I will not be using the EMDR process in this platform. But I can incorporate any therapeutic information/knowledge that maybe valuable to the person. We will work together to establish realistic and attainable goals for you to achieve. You will be formulating your own goals and has full control to modify them to better suit your needs. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
