About me

I am a Mental Health Counselor licensed in New York State, with over 16 years of experience . I have worked with people on many types of challenges, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, life transitions, ADHD, as well as personal growth and development. I help adults identify habits and change behaviors so that they feel more comfortable and in control; this enables them to live life to their fullest potential, and feel better about themselves. I can help you bring about positive life changes by working with you in identifying the challenges, setting goals, charting progress, providing supports and encouraging self care. Change can be scary and overwhelming for many people. You may have a sense that SOMETHING needs to be different in your life to help you get to where you really want to be. Other people may have suggested this to you as well. WHAT needs to change? HOW do you do it? WHEN is the best time to start? WHO can help me? I can help you with this. People find it very easy to talk with me. My counseling style is friendly, warm and caring. I connect with people through a respectful, relaxed dialogue with occasional humor. Most people find this approach helps them to feel at ease and accepted. I will adjust our dialog and work with you collaboratively to create a treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I use an Eclectic approach in my therapy sessions. This provides for the use of a more personalized type, style and therapeutic technique that will work the best for you. This type of approach adapts to your unique needs depending on the issue, goals, expectations and motivation for change. Some of the interventions that I use include motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy and some components of CBT and DBT. • Behavioral Therapy: A type of psychotherapy that identifies and seeks to change current unhealthy or self-destructive behavior patterns All behavior is learned and therefore can be changed. • Humanistic Therapy: A positive approach to psychotherapy focusing on the whole person, their positive traits and behaviors. The person observes their own behavior in the present to identify their needs and work toward fulfilling their highest potential. Having the support of a good therapist can really make a positive impact in your life. I can help you figure out what behaviors and beliefs are most problematic, identify your strengths, cope with thoughts and feelings, problem solve, teach new skills, set goals, and implement solutions to guide you in the direction of a better quality of life. If you want to make positive changes in your life, but you feeling stuck, I can help you regain control and move past challenges.
