Hello! My name is Caron, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I’ve been practicing for 6+ years. The reason I got into social work was to help people lose weight; we’re told that diet and exercise are the answers to America’s obesity epidemic, but I believe the missing piece to this puzzle is how our mental and emotional states affect our ability to make lasting lifestyle changes. I’ve spent much of my career providing Cognitive Behavior Therapy at a therapeutic weigh loss camp, helping clients improve their overall health and learn to manage the emotional and mental components such as stress, depression, trauma and other factors that are the underlying reasons for their health issues. I currently work with families at a non-profit agency to address behavioral concerns, improve relationships and communication, and identify and build on clients’ strengths. I am most interested in working with clients who struggle with their weight and health, and are looking for the missing piece to help them achieve their goals. Aside from weight management counseling, I specialize in relationships and communication, depression and anxiety, and self-esteem issues. I implement various tenets of Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help my clients reveal patterns within their thoughts, actions and emotions that may be detrimental to their overall goals, and work to identify achievable means of changing these patterns. In my free time I enjoy running, doing CrossFit, and playing Ultimate Frisbee. I love coffee and lounging around watching Netflix, and I keep a dream journal to stay connected to those thoughts and feelings that I may not be aware of in my waking life. I meet with a dream counselor a couple times per month to process my own dreams, and she allows me make connections between these messages and how I relate to the world.
