About me

My name is Alec Spergel and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in D.C. with 5 years experience in the field. I work with children and adults facing a wide range of mental health issues from anxiety and depression to complex trauma. The approach I take to counseling is through the lense of Narrative Therapy, which focuses on evaluating our values and beliefs and restructuring our “story” to fit the people we are and the people we want to be. I also utilize solution focused and cognitive behavioral techniques to help readjust our thoughts and behavior. Ultimately, I like to get to know my clients and find out what works best for each and every individual. Reaching out and asking for help is always difficult. It’s a process that asks us to be vulnerable which, at it’s core, takes unbelievable courage. I hope we can do that together and find ways to achieve your desired outcome.
