Marisa Halm

At Marisa Halm, the Director of the Youth Justice Project at the Center for Children’s Advocacy, we represent children and youth who are involved with the juvenile justice system or at risk of involvement. We are passionate advocates for our clients and strive to ensure they receive the education they are entitled to, whether in public schools, alternative or therapeutic programs, juvenile justice facilities, or adult correctional facilities. We are committed to fighting against the school-to-prison pipeline, unfair discipline practices, and policies that facilitate youth push out from school. We also identify systemic barriers and inequities that impact our clients’ education and successful re-entry into the community, and develop strategies to eradicate them. Our advocacy includes legislative initiatives, administrative advocacy, facilitating policy change, and filing complaints against school systems that violate students’ basic educational rights. Attorney Halm has a J.D. from UConn School of Law and a B.A., with honors, from Mount Holyoke College and was admitted to the practice of law in 2006. At Marisa Halm, our goal is to ensure children and youth receive the education they are entitled to and that we put an end to the school-to-prison pipeline.
