About me

Welcome to Better Help! I commend you for taking this challenging step to create the change you want. My name is Wale Adegbenle, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York. I earned my Master of Social Work degree, specializing in Health and Substance Abuse, from Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare in 2003. I am also a Certified Case Manager trained as a geriatric case manager. I have worked with many individuals and families who have a variety of personal issues, such as depression/anxiety, stress, trauma/abuse, family problems, addictions of all kinds, relationships/parenting, and many more in different settings. In a nutshell, I’m a Christian husband and father of 3 children who love to serve and provide mental health services. My education and career have always focused on my passion for working with individuals and their families. My counseling style is relationship-centered, compassionate, focused, and validating. I pride myself on being a patient mental health provider and a good listener who will meet you where you are and help you to set realistic and actionable goals for treatment. My approach combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Strengths-Based counseling techniques. I am here to support and help you navigate through what you’ve indicated is difficult for you right now. I aim to offer you a safe space to be open without fear of judgment while providing you with the guidance, support, and counseling you seek. I take my job seriously and honor the time you choose to share with me. I look forward to connecting with you soon and navigating through this journey of support together.
