About Teral

Hello, my name is Teral! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 13 years of experience helping people navigate some of life's most difficult and challenging moments. While I bring professional knowledge, training, and experience to our sessions, I believe something equally important: You are the expert on you. My desire is to work alongside you, helping you identify, develop, and achieve goals that are meaningful to you. I believe that one of the most important parts of therapy is developing a relationship built on trust. Through active listening, unconditional positive regard, compassion, and genuine understanding, my goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable being yourself and sharing your experiences. I am here to provide not only genuine emotional support but also practical strategies, guidance, and hope when you may feel stuck or uncertain about how to move forward. I understand that there are times in life when we experience loss, struggle with unanswered questions, or face situations that feel like more than we can handle. During those moments, it can be difficult to see a way forward, and you do not have to navigate those experiences alone. Whether you are struggling with feelings of anger, hurt, frustration, loneliness, insecurity, disappointment, shame, sadness, or emotions you may not fully understand, I am here to help you process what you are experiencing, gain a better understanding of yourself, and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked with clients experiencing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, parenting problems, and career challenges. I also have extensive experience in Child Welfare, working with children and adults who have experienced physical trauma, emotional abuse, foster care, and adoption-related challenges. I also recognize that trauma is not something I understand only from a professional perspective. I have experienced personal trauma in my own adult life, which has deepened my appreciation for the fact that everyone experiences adversity, processes emotions, and heals differently. No two people have the same journey, and I believe each person deserves an individualized approach that respects their unique experiences, needs, and pace of healing. My professional background includes working as both a Mental Health Therapist and a Marriage and Family Therapist. I provide psychotherapy to adults, children, adolescents, couples, and the family unit as a whole. I recognize that our emotional well-being is often connected to our relationships, life experiences, and the environments in which we live. I utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Structural Family Therapy (SFT), Family Systems Therapy (FST), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), among others. I do not believe therapy should follow a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I draw from different therapeutic methods and combine approaches when appropriate to best meet your individual needs and support your personal goals. What can you expect from me as your therapist? I am open, relaxed, easygoing, compassionate, and genuine. These qualities have served me well in connecting with and supporting people from diverse backgrounds, different walks of life, and various stages of their personal journeys. I enjoy getting to know people beyond the challenges that bring them into therapy, understanding who they are as individuals, and creating an environment where they can feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear of judgment. I value the therapeutic relationship and believe meaningful support should extend beyond simply discussing challenges during a session. When needed, I am willing to engage, provide encouragement, and reach out throughout the week to help support your progress, within the communication and availability arrangements we establish together. What sets me apart? Simply put, I love what I do! Being a therapist is much more than a career choice for me. It reflects a core part of who I am. I genuinely enjoy connecting with people on a deeper, more meaningful level, listening to their stories, understanding their experiences, and offering compassion without judgment. It is incredibly meaningful to me to help someone recognize their strengths, find hope in difficult circumstances, and begin seeing possibilities they may not have been able to see before. My goal is to help guide you through personal challenges, ease emotional burdens, and empower you to develop a healthier mindset. Through greater emotional awareness, practical coping strategies, and new ways of understanding yourself and your experiences, I hope to help you discover healthier ways of living and functioning in both your personal and professional life. You do not have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. You do not even have to know exactly where to start. We can begin right where you are, work through what is weighing on you, and take meaningful steps toward the life you want to create. I am here for you, and I look forward to getting to know you!
