About Sylvia

My name is Dr. Sylvia Akingbade, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Provisionally Licensed Psychologist in the state of Texas. I hold a Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) and have over ten years of experience in the mental health field, working with children, adolescents, adults, and individuals with disabilities. My background includes supporting clients through concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and complex family dynamics. Over the years, I’ve come to understand that seeking support is not always easy-but it can be life-changing. Working with individuals from diverse backgrounds has reinforced that this work is more than a profession for me; it is truly my calling. My approach to therapy integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. Together, we will explore patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while creating a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. I tailor each session to meet your unique needs, always approaching you with empathy and without judgment. My goal is to provide a supportive and collaborative environment where you feel empowered to make meaningful changes. You set the pace, and I am here to guide and support you every step of the way. Taking the first step toward therapy requires courage, and choosing to invest in yourself is something to be proud of. I look forward to supporting you on your journey. Read more Show less
