About Melvin

Hello, and welcome. My name is Melvin Nevels, Jr., and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) currently licensed in Louisiana, Texas, and Alabama. I have experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, life transitions, substance use concerns, relationship challenges, and emotional burnout. My approach to therapy is centered on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered. I believe therapy should be collaborative and practical, helping you not only process what you are going through, but also build healthy coping skills, improve emotional wellness, and move toward meaningful change. I utilize evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, strengths based techniques, and person centered care. I also understand the importance of cultural sensitivity, spirituality, and life experiences in the healing process, and I strive to meet each client where they are. In addition to therapy, I have experience in behavioral health leadership, case management, crisis intervention, and working with Veterans and individuals with complex mental health needs. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or simply need someone to talk to, you do not have to face it alone. Taking the first step toward therapy can be difficult, but it is also a sign of strength. I look forward to walking alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and becoming the healthiest version of yourself. Read more Show less
