Marcela Atayde

I am a licensed clinical social worker and I have provided direct clinical services to all age groups, (including 0-5) for the past 20 years. I have also coordinated research studies, worked in fields related to HIV/AIDS, and served the LGBTQI+ community. Last year, I worked at the US border welcoming the first wave of thousands of unaccompanied minors, where I was reminded about resiliency. I welcome people from all walks of life and love learning from every client I serve. I was born in Mexico City and grew up in Michoacán, Mexico until the age of 17. I am fluent in English, Spanish and ‘Spanglish’. I have lived in Mexico, California, Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico, providing mental health services to diverse populations in all settings. My training is rooted in a humanistic-experiential approach, which is a holistic approach that focuses on free will, human potential, and self-discovery. Everyone has their own unique way of looking at the world, and I respect who you are. I believe that we all deserve unconditional positive regard. Being your true self is the key to lead the most fulfilling life possible and, in my practice, I offer a safe, warm, and accepting space to express yourself. I believe you are the expert of your life, and I support your desire to feel heard and understood. Your emotional well-being is my priority.
