Kurt Voorhees

I am a licensed mental health practitioner and professional counselor currently working in private practice and trained in the United States and Europe. I have worked with clients in a variety of settings with a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, sleep problems, phobias, parenting, relationship issues, loneliness, antisocial disorder, narcissism, conduct disorder, Asperger’s, ADHD, DMDD, self-esteem, emotional abuse, trauma, anger, atheism/agnosticism, academic, gifted, and political problems. I am an eclectic psychotherapist, which means I draw on a variety of theories and lessons, including (but not limited to) those from Cognitive-Behavioral approaches, motivational interviewing, Bowen’s family systems, LGBTQ+ issues, Gestalt therapy, Eastern holistic mindfulness practices, relaxation techniques, Stoicism, Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy, feminism, multiculturalism, Analytical Philosophy, Continental Philosophy, Structural, Post-Structural, and French psychoanalysis. (Of note: outside of my private practice, I do not provide legal or court documentation, diagnosis, assessment, or treatment reports, or letters for any clinically-related purpose, clients who need these resources will need to see an in-person provider in their own state or country). I believe that clients need warm and honest unconditional positive regard infused with the occasional bit of light-hearted comedy as they learn about themselves and others on their path to health, happiness, and authenticity. I also believe that mental health therapy is a human right that every person deserves and will need at some point in their lives.
