About me

Kia has been working in the field as a professional therapist for right at a decade now. She has a Masters Degree in Counseling and has completed the requirements for professional licensure in West Virginia and is currently in the process of being licensed inVirginia. Areas of specialization include working with the LGBTQIA community, gender identity and sexuality , consensual non-monogamy and relationship issues, self love/self development, as well as being kink aware and sex worker friendly. Kia believes that you the client are the expert of your life. Her job is to walk alongside you and help you to sort things out. She does not believe in telling clients what to do or giving them answers, but will help guide them to find their own way.Kia practices from a CBT/Humanistic framework, but will bring in other therapeutic approaches if it is deemed they would work better with the client. She also believes that therapy does not occur only when therapist and client are interacting. To keep the client engaged between session and to give them opportunities to try out the skills learned in session, between-session work will be given as appropriate.
