About Julianne

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Nevada and an insight-oriented psychotherapist. I hold a Master of Social Work, dual Master of Arts degrees in Health and Wellness Psychology and Organizational Communication, and a graduate certificate in Creativity and Innovation. This background informs a practice attentive to health and wellness, communication, and professional life, areas that rarely operate separately. Much of the most meaningful work happens where they meet. Much of what brings people to therapy is relational at its core, rooted in long-standing ways of relating to others, to work, to the body, and to oneself. For some, it begins with a career that appears successful from the outside but has become harder to justify from the inside. For others, it is a pattern of discipline or control that has become difficult to set down, or a growing sense that long-held expectations deserve closer examination. Therapy with me focuses on how these patterns developed, what purpose they once served, and why they often persist after that purpose has passed. Insight-oriented work examines the beliefs and experiences around which a person has organized their life, often without fully realizing it. Professional life frequently plays a central role. Career transitions, leadership responsibilities, visibility, and sustained performance demands can shape identity and well-being in significant ways, particularly when achievement begins to cost more than it returns. These effects rarely remain with one person. Partners and families often absorb the strain of a demanding career, and those in caregiving roles may lose sight of their own needs while supporting everyone else. Financial pressures, social expectations, and academic performance can carry similar weight, especially when they become tied to a sense of self-worth. Discretion and privacy are central to how I practice. Under sustained pressure, people develop ways of managing. For some, this involves substance use or addictive behavior, whether alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, gambling, or something else that takes the edge off or makes it possible to keep going. For others, it involves increasing control over food, exercise, training, or health routines. It may also appear in relationships, through distance, secrecy, or a connection outside the partnership. I am particularly interested in why these responses take such a firm hold, especially when they remain useful in some ways while creating difficulty in others. Therapy offers an opportunity to examine what is being maintained, what is being avoided, and what no longer works. My approach is inquisitive, direct, and collaborative. I draw primarily from psychodynamic and relational perspectives and integrate CBT, ACT, and motivational interviewing when clinically appropriate. Rather than applying a standardized method, I begin with each person's history, circumstances, and the particular tensions shaping their experience, and build the work from there. Understanding why something happens is important. Understanding what sustains it, and what it would take to live on different terms, is where meaningful change begins. Read more Show less
