About me

My name is Joe and I have been working as a counselor since 2011. I am an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) as well as a LCDC (licensed chemical dependency counselor). I graduated with my Master of Social Work from New Mexico State University in 2011. Throughout my career I have worked with many different populations, and I have worked with many individuals from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. The majority of my therapeutic experiences comes from working in traditional outpatient settings where I see all ages of individuals, and all demographics. My style of therapy is warm, empathetic, non-judgmental, and compassionate. I believe we have all the tools we need to reach our upmost potential, however sometimes we need help to guide us to tap back into ourselves and to find our true selves again. I guide individuals through treatment with them in the driver’s seat! Together with the individual’s input, we create a treatment plan. This plan is the blueprint for the treatment and the individual is the main contributor to the plan, and because it is a living document, it can updated, changed, etc. as needed. I am hopeful that I can be helpful for you! I congratulate you on this big step you are deciding to make! Areas of specialty- Depression, Anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, career path, daily life challenges and struggles, general concerns, improving motivation, substance use, family relationships and concerns, and many more areas. Therapeutic Interventions- Person Centered therapy, Solution focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Reality therapy, Mindfulness. Other methods I use are Motivational Interviewing, parts work, and Internal Family Systems.
