About me

Hello! If you are exploring BetterHelp, it is likely that you are struggling with something significant in your life. I know that making this first step may be difficult for you. It is brave to seek support. I acknowledge that everyone has a unique personality and story, so finding the right person to help you through life’s challenges is very important to me. I want to provide you with some information about me in order to help you decide if my experience and style is a good fit for you and that you feel comfortable embarking on this journey with me. My name is Elizabeth Romska and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina, with over 10 years of providing therapeutic services. Also, I have been a school social worker for more than 20 years, working with children and families from all different backgrounds. I received my undergraduate degree in Social Work at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC and my Masters degree in Social Work from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. I received a certification in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and serve as a Crisis Counselor on the CISM team for a public school district. The foundation of my work is client-centered and trauma-focused, which concentrates on establishing trust and respect in order for change to occur. I hope you find comfort knowing that I am a therapist who will honor you as the expert in your own life and nurture your personal growth. I see each client as a unique human being with the power within them to heal and grow. I will help you discover the tools you already have to make changes by providing a safe space to feel heard, instilling hope, engaging with compassion, and supporting you with empathy. Sometimes we struggle and need help finding our way back to the life we want to live. We may experience feelings of anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and guilt. As a therapist, I aim to create a safe space for my clients to explore their feelings and experiences, and ultimately move towards the things they value. My practice is rooted in compassion, acceptance, and non-judgement. Throughout my career, I have had the honor of working with people from all different backgrounds and ages. Much of my experience has been working with individuals affected by depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse and neglect, ADHD, LGBTQ+ issues, and the challenges of parenting. Outside of my work as a therapist and as a school social worker, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three daughters, exercising, playing games, and enjoying nature.
