About Dr.

Hello. I am Dr. Jillian Graves, a licensed clinical social worker (LMSW), in the state of Michigan. I have experience working with adults, adolescents and families in both group and individual sessions. I have the most experiencing working with anger management, trauma, anxiety, parenting issues, mood disorders and workplace issues. I earned my MSW at Smith College and then went on to earn a Ph.D. in social work at Bryn Mawr, where my dissertation work focused on emerging adult (18-29-year-old) siblings of people with schizophrenia. As you might guess, working with siblings of people with mental illness and adolescent and young adult development are specialties of mine as well. I believe that the most important work in therapy is the relationship. Establishing trust and solid communication is important and with that in mind, therapy is a collaborative process where I am here to help you set goals, provide support and offer insight. I have an eclectic approach to therapy, using approaches such as psychodynamic theory (including attachment theory), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused treatment and narrative approaches. Making meaning, improving communication and understanding the ways that our personal histories shape us are important areas to focus on in therapy as well. Beginning therapy is difficult but I will be here to work with you every step of the way and if you have additional questions for me, please do not hesitate to ask. I look forward to working with you. Read more Show less
