About me

My journey began with a Master’s in Social Work from UNC and advanced training at Duke’s Department of Psychiatry. Since 1989, I’ve helped countless individuals – urban and rural, across cultures and incomes – navigate life’s toughest challenges. I am licensed by the state of North Carolina as clinical social worker with over 35 years of experience and 700 hours of continuing education. I enjoy working working with people who are trying to figure out how they got to where they are. That process includes identifying stressors that impact health, work, and relationships. I see my role as sharing available options to reach their goals. I believe that successful therapy requires clients to be actively engaged. This includes setting goals and visualizing possible outcomes. My goal is to provide a therapeutic environment that promotes the expression of thoughts and feelings. I see myself as a guide who asks questions and shares ideas.
