About me

Hi! And welcome! Congratulations on taking the courageous first step toward improving your life by reaching out and sharing information about yourself! I understand counseling as a journey where I meet you where YOU ARE AT (mentally and emotionally) and then have the privilege of traveling with you on your journey of self-discovery. I use my skills to assist on the rocky patches in the road, and am ALWAYS encouraging, confirming, and celebrating YOUR SUCCESS. I create a space for you that is confidential, accepting, and non-judgmental. I have a Ph. D. in Mental Health Counseling and am currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina. I also have a sub-specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have over 20 years of counseling experience, working with children, teens, and adults of all ages. The counseling modalities I use are Adlerian, Solution Focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral techniques, and a traumagenic approach. Issues for which I have provided therapy include: childhood abuse; childhood trauma resolution; questionning alcohol abuse; codependency; grief and loss; adult ADD; negotiating stressful life transitions, dealing with verbal aggression; conflict resolution; decision making; effective parenting skills; stressful family environments; and developing effective and lasting communication skills. I have also helped some of my clients resolve depression and anxiety which often are associated with the aforementioned issues. My availability is currently Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with appointments starting at 11:15am through 5:30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This schedule will vary only if I have to attend to a matter that requires me to be offline/out of the office.
