My name is Bryan Young, and I am a licensed professional counselor with twelve years of helping people in the field of mental health. when meeting with someone, I often begin sessions by offering both myself and my clients a glass of water, this gesture reflects my values as well equipping people to grasp we are hard wired for connection and that the profession of counseling has been mindfully carved out to mitigate the effects of a lack of helpful hospitality. My therapeutic persecutive is psychodynamic, which focuses on understanding the underlying patterns and connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By exploring these patterns, we can gain valuable insights into how past experiences influence present reactions in therapy and in culture, I do pull from other schools of therapeutic thought such as solution focused, CBT, DBT as well use concepts from classical philosophy, I am formally trained in philosophy, I look at counseling as practicing healthily self-awareness grounded in accurate self-knowledge. I offer both traditional therapy sessions and a more informal life coaching approach on Better Help to address a wide range of issues including relationship difficulties, ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, anger management, substance abuse, other addictions, and complex PTSD. Your perspective is invaluable in therapy , while the therapeutic relationship can sometimes start to feel unfamiliar and can at times even be intense as we encounter your emotions together but by leaning into therapy when it feels difficult helps lighten the load outside of the therapeutic relationship .
