About me

Hello, my name is Ben Woo. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the states of New Hampshire and Vermont. I have worked in residential, community mental health and correctional settings. I am an empathetic, compassionate, self-motivated professional who strives to help individuals reach their full potential. I believe a healthy emotional lifestyle includes learning how to communicate in relationships to increase closeness and social support; it means learning how to believe in your abilities, conquer your fears, and try new things; and it means practicing mind-calming techniques, such as meditation and yoga, and having the courage to heal old wounds while learning how to create your own happiness. I work with individuals with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, family relations issues, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. I combine different therapeutic approaches based on client’s presenting concerns and goals. I use an integrated approach to counseling tailored to fit the client’s needs as they arise. The modalities I use include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Solutions-Focused approach, and Motivational Interviewing. I believe trust in the counseling relationship is the most important vehicle towards self-awareness, change, and reaching your goals. Throughout life we all are faced with challenges. How we overcome these life challenges and experiences help shape us as people. My main goal is to support my clients in both wellness and recovery. I define wellness as having a purpose in life, being actively involved in satisfying work and play, being part of joyful relationships, having a healthy body and living environment and experiencing happiness. I view recovery as a process of change that helps us improve our health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and work to meet our full potential in all area of our lives. I look forward to working with you. Be well. Ben
