Allison Jones

Hi, and welcome to Better Help. First, I just want to say congratulations on making this first step towards a happy and healthier you. This first step is often the hardest and now it’s behind you! My name is Allison Jones and I am a licensed independent clinical social worker. I have been in the field for about 10 years and have worked in a wide range of settings including schools, group-home, psychiatric emergency settings, hospice, community programs and hospitals. I am passionate about working with people going through life’s difficult challenges and I strive to help people in a holistic way- understanding the intricacies and interactions between our physical health, mental health, families, work, social lives, etc.. In addition, I have significant experience with grief and loss which not only applies to death, but to any number of losses including loss of a job, loss of a relationship, loss of one of your senses, loss of independence, and more. There is not one theory or modality that I pull from in my work with clients. I find it most helpful to meet people “where they are”, and to develop my methods off of what they will find most helpful. Self-exploration is crucial to the work and early on, I do like to focus on a person’s narrative, allowing them to illustrate to me who they are, what helped them get there, and what has brought them to therapy. I often draw from solution-focused therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy as well. However, if another modality will be more helpful for you, I will work to structure our work together with that in mind. I primarily do counseling through the messaging/email system on this platform. I do have some availability to do live chat sessions or video sessions, but that availability is based off my current caseload. When using the messaging system I email regularly. I will answer your emails within 24 hours unless it’s a weekend- sometimes it will take me longer. In some instances, I will send more than 1 message in a day.
