About National Alliance on Mental Illness

NAMI is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support, education, and advocacy to those living with mental illness, their families, and friends. Founded in 1979 by Harriet Shetler and Beverly Young, NAMI was created to provide a safe and supportive space for those affected by mental illness. From its inception, NAMI has been a leader in providing resources, raising awareness, and advocating for those living with mental illness. By offering support groups, providing education, and advocating for improved public policies, NAMI is making a difference in the lives of those affected by mental illness. Through its commitment to bettering the lives of those living with mental illness, NAMI is helping to create a world where everyone can live happy and healthy lives.
